I am Janele Linna's sister (she was with Kurt the day of the accident)
I keep trying to come up with the right words to say but it just won't come; I figured I would just go to the big book. Please share with the family. Thank you. Jamie Linna
Scriptures For Grieving Parents
I found that many times when the image of my daughters death haunted my mind if I would meditate on a scripture, I would find relief. Many times I memorized and repeated them out loud over and over again until the images went away. ~Linda Kaiser
Psalms 121:1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.My help [cometh] from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
Isaiah 60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
Luke 6:21 Blessed [are ye] that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed [are ye] that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
Ecclesiastes 7:1-3 A good name [is] better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.[It is] better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that [is] the end of all men; and the living will lay [it] to his heart.Sorrow [is] better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.
1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek His face continually.
2 Samuel 12:21-23 Then said his servants unto him, What thing [is] this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, [while it was] alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell [whether] GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed [be] God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

I was just rereading these scriptures after I had some rough moments today. I need to memorize some of them, so I do have them to cling to during the bad times.
So often words to a song come to me and help through. And many of those songs have Bible verses in them, so they are a comfort as well. Thank you again Jamie for putting these verses on here. anna
Today marks my sons 18th birthday. He was killed in 1998 in a tragic auto accident. I can only imagine what kind of man he would have become. He loved God so much and wanted to preach His Word. I was looking for scriptures to read today and found your site. Those of us who have lost children need to reach out to those who go through this. No one can relate to this horrible event unless you have walked in those shoes. Loosing a parent or grand parent pails in comparison. Thank you for sharing your grief and hope.

I was looking for scriptures for my mother in law when I found your website. I lost my husband, her son 4 months ago in a car accident and she has been overwhelmed with grief. Today is his 42nd birthday and it will be a difficult one for her. While I draw close to God to ease my pain, she has a been suffering a crisis of her faith. I am not sure where her faith was before he died. She has been inconsolable and sometimes it drains me to talk to her. I don't know how to help her because I am dealing with my own grief and the grief of our 5 year old twin boys. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with and I have lost both my parents and many family members. Thank you for your site and for the comforting scriptures. God bless you!
If anyone reading this post knows of Christian grief groups in Ontario, CA please email me at franka_baly@yahoo.com so I can see if there is some help for her.
wow..... I just lost a best friend, he was only 16, I was looking for scripture to give to his parents. Not only did I find the words to give them, but I found tremendous comfort in these scriptures and they have helped me a great deal to push myself through....morgan
Tomorrow we will bury my grand daughter. In search for words of comfort to share with my daugher and son-in-law, I came across your site. I am so grateful for the scriptures you've posted. I will share them with my family. God bless Kurt- what a beautiful boy! When I have sent this, I will stop to offer prayer for you who grieve and miss your beloved Kurt. May you be comforted until the day we are all together again in God's Kingdom! Terry, St. Louis, Missouri
Thank you Jamie for these Bible verses. I'm in California. I lost my mom, my brother (alcoholic coma),and my 15-year-old daughter (suicide) all within a 20-month span. I am just now having the nervous breakdown a year later, and googled "bereaved mother's prayer". Silly me, I should have gone straight to the Word. Thanks for reminding me. Bless you.
Thank you for your scriptures. We had our baby girl yesterday and she was already in Heaven.
